Luke 22:7 - Then came the day of unleavened bread, when the passover must be killed.

April 26, 28 AD -  Monday - 12th of Nisan, Mount of Olives, after sunrise, 2 days before Passover

It was the days of preparation for Passover.  Jesus still don’t know when he will die but he still wanted to prepare for eating the Passover meal with his disciples and apostles.  With them was the passover lamb and the bread and spices for the meal to eaten on the 15th of Nisan.

Mark 14:16 - And his disciples went forth, and came into the city, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover.

Matt 26:18 - And he said, Go into the city to such a man, and say unto him, The Master saith, My time is at hand; I will keep the passover at thy house with my disciples.

It would be normal for visitors in Jerusalem to sleep at the Mount of Olives at night but to eat the Passover meal would always be in houses inside the cities in and around Jerusalem

This man might be Lazarus. The preparation of the passover includes the selection of the lamb at the 10th of Nisan when Jesus cleansed the Temple.  Lazarus would be willing to host the passover celebration because he played host already on Thursday on April 22nd where Mary anointed the feet of Jesus

Please, remember that they are preparing two thing here. The priority is the preparation of the Passover meal on the 15th of Nisan which will be after sunset on Wednesday and the second one was the supper for that night.  The meal for that night is not necessary the unleavened bread and would not take place in the room prepared for the Passover.

John 13:1 - Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end.

Luke 22:15 - And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer:

During the time between the disciples were preparing the Passover room while Jesus was still outside the city and the time after that night’s supper, the revelation came to Jesus on the actual time of his death. The above verse clarifies that that meal was not the Passover meal.  Jesus must have eaten his last meal with heaviness in his heart for his love to his disciples.

If only Jesus could only ask two more days extension for his desire to be with his disciples to eat the Passover meal but he knew it would be impossible because he will die before that time.  But Yahweh showed him that he will be with them on the Passover when the Kingdom of God has come.

Mark 14:18 - And as they sat and did eat, Jesus said, Verily I say unto you, One of you which eateth with me shall betray me.

What Jesus told them caused an excitement in the whole dinner room because everyone present was a suspect.

Just like in an Eastern market place, each one present was coming to Jesus and whispering to his ear to learn who is the betrayer. Judas must be the closest to Jesus and last to ask but nobody heard the question and answer.

Matt 26:25 - Then Judas, which betrayed him, answered and said, Master, is it I? He said unto him, Thou hast said.

Matt 26:26- And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.

The Greek word “artos” was used here instead of “azumos” for unleavened bread to show that Jesus was not celebrating the Passover meal with his disciples.

Matt 26:28 -For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

Jesus own words tells us that the New Testament did not start yet.  It  takes the broken body and shed blood of Jesus for Yahweh to accept the New Testament which will be in two days from Jesus last supper with his disciples
